LCFA are building blocks of the brain. Trans fats increase macular degenaration - a major cause of blindness in the elderly. Trans fats increase sudden death from arrythmias. Trans fats increase gall stones. THAT'S WHY TRANS FATS ARE CHEAP. THAT'S WHY THEY USE THEM! We can choose not to eat them- but they are hidden in restaurant food. Yes you can go to the McD website and 30 mins later know what not to eat or flip over their tray liner after you get done eating and you will find the info thru the stained paper.Maybe. First--Let us not equate eating trans fats with freedom. No one is banning fast, franchise food! eat all you want. Second --There is nothing liberal or conservative about banning trans fats. Only KFC, McDonald's et al stockholders are laughing all the way to the bank using cheap trans fats. Third--many substitutes for trans fats are available. they taste the same. They cost more.McDonald's in Europe is trans fat free. We in USA matter. Tell McDonald's that and your friends. Fourth--Health matters-health is not hilarious. Health is wealth.Ask GM -- health care costs are the single biggest part of a new vehicle's cost. Fast and franchise food is cheap up front but we pay with our rising health care premiums our worse health than the british at all age and income levels. Fifth--Attention to the common good is what makes us civilized. That is why we drive on the right side of the road, that is why we have red lights, that is why construction work does not start before 7 am, that is why as all of us have had near misses on the road with cell phone talking drivers it is for the common good to limit that. That is what good government is for. To protect our freedoms from those who would steal them for profit. And what is the ultimate freedom for all be they liberal or be they conservative. if not freedom from ill health, disability and death. "
Basic Science research on turmeric has mistakenly (?) focused on Curcurmin as the presumed active ingredient of turmeric. That focus was likely to find a commercially lucrative new drug from un-patentable inexpensive Turmeric. I believe that focus is unfortunate. Less than 5% 0f turmeric is curcumin. Multiple other compounds are present and may represent active contributory ingredients . The story of vitamin E as the active ingredient in walnuts helping in vascular and heart disease is a case in point. Millions of people for years took vitamin E because of that wrong assumption. I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE USE OF ORAL CURCURMIN AND CURCURMIN/ PIPERARINE COMBINATIONS DUE TO recent reports from Italy of POSSIBLE HEPATOTOXICITY None of those reports were about whole turmeric powder. All over this post I have quoted curcumin research because that is primarily what is online everywhere. Some turmeric clinical research is available too. I only use whole turmeric powder bought online or i
